Konnect Fastening Systems is the exclusive distributor of Greenkote® Tension Control Bolts in New Zealand and Australia.
The last time Arnie Glausiusz visited New Zealand was 2019. Since then, we have supplied into over 15 iconic projects throughout New Zealand including NZICC, Westfield Newmarket, Holiday Inn Frankton, Dunedin Public hospital, Christchurch Hospital and IKEA.
For this trip we presented to a mix of structural engineers, fabricators and universities. The presentation consisted of a live demonstration supported by PowerPoint.
The first presentation was to the Konnect Fastening Systems internal sales team before visiting the consultant engineering firms. A mixed presentation was delivered after the conclusion of the SCNZ conference in the Wynyard quarter. This was attended by fabricators and engineers leading to engaging questions from different viewpoints. The trip concluded with visits in Christchurch.
Key points explored in the presentation were:
· Fast Installation
· Product Range
· Health & Safety
· Wrenches
· Greenkote® Corrosion Protection
· EN14399-10 / System HRC
· Paint
· TCB Advantages
Installation
TC bolts are installed using a specialized shear wrench referred to as a “dumb tool” as it does not require calibration. The wrench holds the TCB by its twelve-point metric spline in the inner socket while the outer socket rotates the nut. This means that there is no torque put into the shank of the bolt only. When the correct tension is reached, the inner socket counter rotates and shears the spline off. The process is simple, fast and results in correct tensioning every time. Quality Control is greatly simplified as spline removal indicates correct tension.

Weathering Steel TCB
Greenkote® Tubolt
Health & Safety
TC Bolts have many health and safety benefits compared to standard hex bolts including the tools being low noise (less than 85db), lightweight and eliminating the risk of hand-arm vibration syndrome as the tools are non-impacting.
Wrenches
Variety of wrenches in different shapes and sizes for different situations. There is a 90-degree corner wrench for tight spaces.
Corrosion Protection
Greenkote® is a thermo-chemical surface modification which gives a highly uniform, conformal coating that gives exceptional protection against corrosion as well as enhanced durability and other performance advantages. The natural micro-roughness of the Greenkote® surface gives it superior adhesion qualities for topcoats or paints.
EN14399-10 / System HRC
TCBs are system HRC which stands for High Resistance Calibrated. The European standard is EN 14399 part 10. The 2016 revision of the AS 1252 standard has included the use of EN 14399 - the Structural Bolt assemblies that are manufactured to EN 14399 comply to the requirement of AS 1252:2016.
